Our complaint with this campground is there is a dangerous route to this campground for a big rig. Our GPS took us on the most direct route off the main road which required about a 110 degree turn on Ten Rod Road off 102 (to the east of 102) causing our rig to get hung-up on the rear bumper. True their web site offered a different route but no warning of this intersection. If one Googles this intersection and uses street view, you'll see pavement carved-up by dozens of RVs and trucks. I mentioned this to the front desk to suggest some website warning, intersection signage, curb or other indicator and received little feedback and sympathy. It was very disappointing.
A very nice park. The nicest inner-city park we have stayed in. The staff is very helpful and the park very clean. We did stay in the front of the park which is quiet enough. It should be contrasted with other inner-city RV parks - this one is a 10 that is 5 minutes from the French Quarter.
Great location to D.C. with few alternatives to pick from, none acceptable to us after spending a few hours on the Internet before our trip. Expensive park. Definitely stay in front part of the park as the back and upper part is a 3 because of the temporary workers that stay there. Stay off the roads to and from the back part to avoid traffic if this is important to you. Otherwise a good park.
We were somewhat disappointed based on the reviews on the RV Park Reviews for this site and the CG's website. We would not call this a 5 star as Woodall's did in their 2007 review. The spaces are a little close so not much privacy. Backing in a 40' rig was tight. The location is cutoff by water from nearby establishments so it may take 25 minutes to get to a location just a few miles south of the CG. Otherwise an OK park.
An excellent park, especially for the rate. We had a pull-through site (#173) which had hibiscus plants that provided a nice screen from the neighboring sites. In 30 seconds you could walk to the western edge of the camping area for a sunset view across the backwaters area. Note it is not on the ocean (do a Google satellite view) but various beaches are just a bike ride (10 minutes) or car trip (2 minutes) away. A real treat was seeing the sunrise from the beach closest to the Sunshine Skyway. The beaches in the park were clean with great shelling. Make sure you have some outside help pulling a big rig into the pull-throughs as some of the trees grow in at an angle and might brush your rig. Definitely a place we will go back to - hard to reserve in advance as locals have a one month head start.
